A coffee haven + us

Ummmm, this chicago coffee shop was as good a coffee shop there is. I had been recommended Intellegentsia coffee by a handful of people and knew I had to try it.  Their brewing methods vary from drip to using a siphon (both pictured.)  I didn't know much about the siphon and asked some questions along the way.  It's so crazy the way it heats (my dark blend reached 198 degrees- yowzas!), pulls the water down, sucks the grounds up, yada yada yada. Also while i was away "on business" hubby and puppy decided to cozy up for a bay window nap. My mister man saw this as a good photo email opportunity titled "When is my mom coming home?" #beyondcute  Oh, I also cut myself more bang. The fashion girls in Chicago were rocking the thick bangs. Thought I'd give 'em a try :) Hope everyone had a good weekend!

Coffee + Work + Play = .......

This is what it looks like when your work day is slow, you've just taken the last sip of your coffee and you need a refill but have nothing left in the coffee pot.

My heart skips a beat...

...For Skip Hop.  How stinkin' cute are these book ends, tableware and backpack?!  (answer: so stinkin' cute) Everything from nursery/bedroom accessories, to diaper bags and bath time toys, Skip Hop is quickly becoming one of my favorite makers of children's goods.

 

Free your mind....

The Brooklyn Free school is truly unlike any school i've ever heard of- first off, the kids vote on everything. Anything from major to minor decisions- truly the definition of a democracy.  Im sure the thought of NO GRADING, students making the rules, and teachers who aren't necessarily certified, terrifies the majority of parents BUT think about what the benefits might be? Kids who feel confident and relaxed in their school environment.  No competition, empowerment by allowing kids to actually have a say plus teachers who are passionate and actually want to be in the classroom making a difference- sounds about awesome right?

The boys in my life.

Okay, I realize I went a little crazy with the puppy photos, but did you guys SEE what he looked like as a puppy!? Holy crud- he's stinkin' ridiculous.  I physically have a reaction to seeing photos of his puppy face.   And my hubby, well he's just hunky. I love these two goofballs more than I can say.  I also love that these random photos were taken in Brooklyn, Queens, Cincinnati, and Switzerland. I don't mean to brag, but dang, i'm lucky.

weekend away...

This past weekend my cousins and I  headed north for a cousins weekend in Columbus Ohio! We over ate, over drank, over laughed and over all had such a fun freakin' time! It was so wonderful to do nothing but overindulge in food, drink and conversation.  

ps. Columbus has some super awesome things happening- amazing restaurants, (our italian dinner and brunch then next day were to. die. for.) great neighborhoods, and tons of fun, cool spots to grab a drink. I always love exploring and experiencing new cities. 

Here we go- BLOG NAME CHANGE!

I am soooo excited about my blog name change AND at the same time soooo sad about losing my beloved title, Coffee In The Classroom.  What's the big idea? A year ago I was in the classroom 5 days a week, 8 hours a day. I had so many classroom stories, activities I wanted to share, lesson plan ideas, etc.  Today, I split my time- I'm in the classroom 3 days a week and at a children's clothing boutique when i'm not in the classroom. I've fallen in love with the business side of children's fashion and am excited about my future in the business. I wasn't feeling relevant and have noticed a shift in what I love to write about. Children's design, children's fashion, coffee ramblings, tid bits about my marriage, friends and life. I'll still be writing about Montessori, Education and preschool (my love for montessori education is still just as strong) but It's only fair that with my shift in posts, the title shifts as well.  The idea behind Little One Love is pretty simple; I love little ones and all that term encompasses.  I love the meaning of the words "One Love", and at this stage in my life, I so look forward to loving my own little one, one day. (geez, lots of usage of the words one and love!) You can read my "behind the name" tab for some more detail :)

This is a new direction I wanted to take and hope you will join me.  I can't thank you enough for all your support, encouragement and love over the past year.

Okay winter, I think we've all had about enough of you.  Your cold, grey and unpleasant for the most part.  I do enjoy your beautiful snow, but when I have to scrape if off my car every single morning, I don't care for you so much.  I've captured your beauty with my camera and now i'm ready for you to go on about your business.  Thanks so much.

this year, more about me.

It's come to my attention that this here blog, gets double the amount of hits when I post something about me personally. (I find this incredibly strange. I'm really not that interesting)  Whether it be about marriage, friends, my pup, our house or my coffee obsession, things in the ol' blogosphere just seem to be better.  Thats not to say I wont be posting about education, montessori, design or fashion- trust me, this blog would be LAME if I stopped sharing those things.  

Simply put by my twitter friend @DOTSshirts "we all like to look in other people's medicine cabinets ;)" (by the way, Dressing on the Side Tshirts are A-mazing. Take a looksie :) So moral of the story: You'll be seeing more of me. Deal with it.
